It's warming up!

My family and I are loving the warmer weather of late. Finally I can head to work without a jacket (something I thought might never happen as the chill in the air just wasn't going away) and I can safely send the kids to school without a backpack that has a school jumper stuffed inside. Most especially though, we love the warmer weather because we live just a stone's throw from the beach!

This is my 'local'

And my girls LOVE it!

We've also enjoyed some serious frisbee action! Uncle 'Micky Moo' played frisbee with the little two in the park. I'm not quite sure who had more fun......

But for now, I'm off to do some much needed housework before hubby, kids & I head to the beach this afternoon for our annual Christmas Card photo shoot ;-) I have this 'vision' in my head...... let's see if it comes to life!

Friday is a great day for a wedding!

I feel so privileged to have been asked by very special friends of mine, Lisa & Michael, to take their wedding photos this past Friday. I admit to be completely nervous; just hoping that I could come away with SOME good shots.....

I am not a photographer, but I love taking photos that capture the moment. It was a beautiful day with many touching moments to capture.

The wedding was simple, yet elegant. It was personal, meaningful and symbolic. The chosen date 28th October, is especially significant to Lisa, and both Michael & Lisa as a couple, adding to the uniqueness of their day.

I feel very honoured to have been able to share this day with them from start to finish and truly wish them a world of happiness

Traditions ~ because birthdays are a big deal!

Because my husband often heads of to work well before the sun rises, we have created our own birthday present opening policy in our family. If Daddy has to go to work super early on your birthday, you get to open your presents the night before. Eligh was fortunate enough for this to be the case for his birthday this week and was very excited to open his presents a day early. It's just something extra and special that the kids get to look forward to on their birthdays.

He was also excited because we made some 'Cake Pops' to take to school to share with his class instead of cupcakes. I ALWAYS make a big deal for their birthdays. The kids get to choose their own dinner menu and get a cake of their choice. I've seen (and sampled) 'Cake Pops' before at fetes and markets so I thought I'd give making them a crack. They took a lot longer than usual, but were relatively simple and let me tell you they were a HUGE hit at school!

After I'd exhausted any spare time I had left this week making the 'Cake Pops' I then decided to try my hand at making an Angry Birds cake for Eligh's birthday party. (Yes, I know - I'm a glutton for punishment!!!) I was pushed for time and tired but was lucky enough to have some help from my eldest Brittany. We were very happy with the results.... (even though we spent a considerable amount of time cleaning red food colouring from my kitchen walls and floors after Britt accidentally dropped it!)

Eligh was very proud of his Angry Bird cake ;-)

A new beginning..... or two ;-)

There are many NEW things in my life at the moment.

This blog for one. I hope for it to be a 'happy' place. A place where I get to explore many of the things we get up to as a family ~ important and otherwise, and somewhere that I can write and share photos, because I LOVE photos ;-)

I've also recently (about 3 weeks ago) completed a 4yr teaching degree. (Now that I don't have a million assignments hanging over my head, why not start a blog?!?!?) I'm looking forward to this new era - paid work! The way I see it is that every day of paid teaching work is a day of both money and experience that I didn't have before. I love teaching and am so pleased that I did the 'hard yards' and completed my full time degree. It wasn't always easy, study and four kids that is, but it's paying off now so I'm happy ;-)

Most of all I'm excited for all the new beginnings that await my family and I. Every day brings new possibilities and I can't wait to meet them all.

Anyway, here's a couple of pics of my youngest two kids Indi & Eligh at our school's Spring Fair on Sunday.
